Fort Worth’s new “signature” West 7th Street Bridge may lack the flash of Dallas’ Margaret Hunt Hill Bridge, but the pavement is perfectly serviceable for driving over and, as the Fort Worth Star-Telegram‘s video from this weekend shows, the concrete arches are perfectly sized for bicycles.
The rider in the video is Mat Olson, a pro BMX rider who splits his time between Arizona and Fort Worth. He spent his time post-stunt regaling local news crews with accounts of his feat (“The scariest part was pedaling up it. If you start slowing down you get the tip factor and you don’t have much room to fall there.”) and the 13 concussions, three knee surgeries, ruptured spleen, and seven sets of replacement front teeth the 25-year-old has suffered in his career.

Kudos to Olson for hitting the arches first, but we’re withholding our praise until he conquers the Large Marge and its pretty-much-vertical 400-foot arch.
