Here’s something worth mentioning: Local rock outfit Macon Greyson has a song in the Mickey Rourke comeback flick, The Wrestler.
The band first announced to its fans that its song “Blacklight”, off the band’s 2007 release 20th Century Accidents, would appear in the movie back in mid-December via a Myspace blog post: “We don’t know what scene the song plays in, or any of the details,” the initial post read. “When we get to see the movie, you’ll be the first ones we tell… Also, for anyone who lives in Dallas and hears four idiots screaming like little girls when “Blacklight” plays during the movie, we’re probably somewhere in the theater. We’ll just say sorry now, OK?”
Earlier this week as the movie opened in Dallas, the band finally did catch their scene–and it updated its fans accordingly:
“The movie The Wrestler came out last week here in Dallas, and we finally got to see it. First things first, the movie is really great. We aren’t saying this because our song is in it; it is flat-out a great movie… As for our little role in the movie, our song plays on the jukebox during the scene where Rourke and [Marisa] Tomei are in a corner bar talking and having a beer. We didn’t get any Globe nominations, but we believe that our song definitely contributed in a positive way to that particular scene…… or something like that.”

And the band wasn’t joking–the song does come during something of a crucial scene, as frontman Buddy Huffman explains via an email sent today:
“I think a Ratt song plays on the jukebox right after ours and then Rourke blames Kurt Cobain for ruining music or something like that.”
