OK, so be a good American and watch the debate instead. For the 10 or so of you who actually bought tickets to this show, I hate to be the bearer of bad news…

But, according to The Loft’s Web site the Boston Spaceships and High Strung show scheduled to take place tonight has been canceled.

Given how many free tickets the Palladium gave out at the end of Cat Power’s show, coupled with the fact that you could get free tickets to the show with any purchase at Good Records for a time this week, too, I can’t really say this comes as much of a surprise.

Interesting, though, that the former Guided by Voices frontman has this much trouble drawing to, what, about a 300-person capacity room?

$30,000

I guess we can blame the economy or the presidential debate scheduled for tonight, but honestly, I don’t know if either is the culprit. I’m guessing its because not too many people have heard of Boston Spaceships–and that, even the last minute move to promote the show as “Robert Pollard’s Boston Spaceships” (as The Loft had taken to doing of late) still wasn’t enough to put the show over the edge. —Pete Freedman
