Which one of these doesn’t belong? You guessed it. The Maverick.
The Redeem Team has been staggering so far in The Olympics. Thanks in no part to Dallas Maverick Jason Kidd.
While Dallas native Chris Bosh has at times been the best U.S. player on the court, Kidd at times looks sad, slow and lost. He’s started every game – the U.S. plays Australia tomorrow at 7 a.m. in the quarterfinals – but contributed only five points, eight assists and seven turnovers. I know, Kidd is counted on for intangibles and leadership, but still …
Contrary to his prime, when Kidd leaves the game the pace speeds up. Chris Paul is a 78 compared to Kidd’s 33. (If you’re too young to understand that analogy, spend some quality time today with Mr. Google.)

Kidd’s performance doesn’t bode well for your Mavericks next season. Eff intangibles and leadership, the Mavs are counting on Kidd to be the Red Bull in their vodka. Consider Kidd’s decline, top draft pick Shan Foster’s departure to Europe and Josh Howard’s loose screw, and the only positive Mavs news this summer is Dirk Nowitzki’s healthy departure from Beijing and his apparent commitment to win an NBA title in Dallas.
