That’s what promoter Bob Arum suggests to Sports Illustrated today: Manny Pacquiao will return to the ring November 13, and right now, says Arum, “I have reserved the date and both the Dallas Cowboys Stadium and MGM Grand in Las Vegas are available. The cable systems and the satellite providers have put the date aside for us, so the table is set.” That Saturday night’s open, according to the stadium’s schedule, but we’ve got calls in to stadium officials to confirm the hold date. Because, you know … boxing promoters.
Of course, the big question is: Will he fight Floyd Mayweather Jr. or some palooka? Arum says he’s “gonna be working very, very hard to make the Mayweather Jr. fight, because that’s the fight everybody wants to see.” But we’ve been here before. Let’s just hope there’s another post-fight Pacman concert. Because that was awesome.
Update at 6:21 p.m.: Brett Daniels, Cowboys spokesman, says there’s not a definite date for the fight. But, yes, he tells Unfair Park, “We’ve been holding some potential dates” should Manny head back into the ring in the fall.
“After working with Bob on the last Pacquiao fight, having another major fight like that is something we have an interest in,” he says. “As we learned last time, there are a lot moving parts. We had a great, great experience with the first fight, and that type of event is something we want to be a part of in the future.” In short: We’ll see.
