Though he claims not to be as materialistic as most mainstream rappers, South Dallas rapper Big Tuck manages to rap about Escalades and rims on a few tracks. So he should feel right at home checking out the lowriders, custom cars and models when he isn’t performing and signing autographs at the Fuego Car Show this Sunday.
After making a name for himself on mixtapes and working with his group Dirty South Rydaz (which also features Tum Tum, of “Caprice Muzik” fame), Tuck got a record deal with Universal Records, which released his major debut The Absolute Truth in 2006. That album featured guest spots from Paul Wall, Bun B, Chamillionaire, Slim Thug and Erykah Badu.
Houston rapper Lil’ Flip, best known for his 2004 hit “Game Over,” headlines. Maybe he’ll pour you a drank of Lucky Nites, a blend of pineapple juice, sour, amaretto and vodka that he sells. Mmm, I can feel the hangover already. Houston’s Chingo Bling performs as well.
The Fuego Car Show is noon to 7 p.m. Sunday, May 18 at the Waco Convention Center. Admission is $10 for over 13, free for kids with an adult. —Jesse Hughey
