Allen High School’s $60 million shrine to high school football, shuttered by a structural failure less than two years after it opened, will reopen next month. Despite the recent rain, Eagle Stadium will reopen for June 5’s Allen High School graduation, AISD officials said at Monday’s school board meeting. All repairs to the stadium have been paid for by Pogue Construction and PBK Architecture, the firms that built and designed the stadium.
Superintendent Lance Hindt also informed the board that Pogue and PBK would be giving the district $2.5 million as compensation for all the revenue lost during the year-plus the stadium wasn’t open.
Pogue agreed to pay for the repairs after a study commissioned by AISD blamed excessive structural cracking on engineering failures. Hindt said he was pleased with how the company took responsibility.
“To me, the real test for a person, and a company in this case, is to stand by their work,” he said.
