Robert Randolph and The Family Band? The Wreckers? The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus? If your name isn’t Robert Wilonsky, stop me when you’ve heard of one. Amos Lee? Mary McBride? Giorgia Fumanti?

It’s OK, I’m clueless too. Oh, wait — Big and Rich, I’ve heard of them. I think.

A month from today we’ll all be granted enlightenment when the National Hockey League’s All-Star extravaganza rolls into town. After all, nothing says hockey like hip musical acts and hip checks. As for our local hockey team, the Stars have a relatively gigantic regular-season tilt against the Anaheim Ducks tonight at 9 on Channel 27.

Anaheim is a league-best 26-4, and Dallas, which will be playing its seventh consecutive game without injured Mike Modano, can’t afford to fall any farther back in the Pacific Division standings. If Dallas can push the game into a shootout, I like its chances. Since the shootout was instituted last season, the Stars are an uncanny 15-1 in overtime. That’s a fancy stat to impress the puck heads with a month from now. Kinda like knowing that Amos Lee is the voice behind the sappy ballad “Arms of a Woman.” But you already knew that, right? Right. –Richie Whitt
