Union Bear’s beer list is a reason to go all on its own, but its chicken-fried egg is one hell of a bonus once you get there. With a salty, crunchy exterior, wrapped around a tender egg white, wrapped around a oozing orange yolk, this number owes as much to its sourcing as it does to the chef that handles the dish.
Yellow Prairie Farm in Caldwell supplies the eggs (you can buy similar ovums at Urban Acres in Oak Cliff), and the kitchen consistently turns out golden gushers. My only problem with the item is that it’s only offered on the side of a Caesar salad. Imagine a chicken-fried egg BLT and then keep dreaming. That egg would work on anything.
