Plano knocked over its old water tower today “to make room for Legacy West, an exciting new development, which will include shops, restaurants, residential living, a high-rise hotel and the Liberty Mutual Insurance campus,” according to a city news release.

Crews from a Michigan company, Iseler Demolition, cut the base of the tower with torches before tipping it over.

The tower hasn’t held any water since 2010, which is sorta a bummer, because watching the thing explode like an overfilled water balloon would’ve been way cooler. Or Jello-O. Nevertheless, the demolition offered a sight of man’s former progress being felled like a once mighty tree. Or something. Whatever, here’s the video:
