Is it us, or does Pat Summerall look a little like Young Elvis in this old picture?
Yeah, it’s like saying, “Sinatra in Midlothian.” But, shr’nuff, one of our best peeps will spend this Friday in one of our, fine, so-so places when legendary sportscaster Pat Summerall serves as keynote speaker for the annual Mesquite Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet. Summerall, who recently rekindled his legendary career by calling the Cotton Bowl for Fox, has called The Masters, countless Super Bowls and now he plays the grand cathedral known as the Mesquite Convention Center on Rodeo Drive, adjacent to the Mesquite Championship Rodeo at IH-635 and Military Parkway.
Actually, it’s quite a coup for the MCC, and the beauty of Summerall is that despite his Hall of Fame cred, he never got too big for his sports britches.
