Sue Ellen’s on Cedar Springs: not gone, not yet

In case you missed the news posted yesterday to our rockin’ sister site DC9 at Night, Sue Ellen’s ain’t closing, contrary to word on the street. The 19-year-old Cedar Springs landmark is merely moving — when, dunno just yet. But yesterday our upstairs neighbors, Caven Enterprises, announced that “Dallas’ most successful lesbian nightclub will be getting a new look in a new location,” sometime in “the 2nd quarter of 2008.”

Also: Caven’s shuttering Throckmorton Mining Company, which has been around since 1979. Only, it may be a short-lived closure, as Caven president Gregg Kilhoffer suggests they might be moving TMC into Sue Ellen’s current location upon its relocation. Got that? For more on how this reshuffling of the deck will affect a Cedar Springs currently in flux, check out DC9. –Robert Wilonsky
