What you see above is the former Shell station at the intersection of Preston Road and Royal Lane. Despite what we’d been told in February — that Shell was retrofitting the property, which has been a gas station as long as I can recall — not so much. Don’t know who owns it now, but Highland Park Village-based Expedition Capital Partners is handling the sale for the new owner, who took possession two weeks ago. Expedition’s Jason Claro says he “can’t comment on” who he’s repping or what’s likely to go in there (like, oh, I dunno — a bank?), only that interested parties can buy the property outright or just lease it. He did ask us to e-mail him so he could send our info to his client, who’s out of town. Did I say “bank”? –Robert Wilonsky
