And now, on to something that should scare Cowboys fans much more than Tony Romo in Mexico. Like, Terrell Owens in street clothes.

If you were hoping coach Wade Phillips would pronounce the receiver good to go during his afternoon press conference moments ago at Valley Ranch, prepare to be sorely disappointed. “He was still limping, and we’ve got a little bit of a dilemma there,” Phillips said. “Looks like it will be a game-time decision. He couldn’t have played if the game was today.” Ouch.

Owens, of course, is Dallas’ main offensive weapon. He opens lanes for Marion Barber and softens coverage for Jason Witten. Without him, Dallas’ second-ranked offense can be downright pedestrian. As in, since he went down with a sprained ankle against Carolina on December 22, the Cowboys have produced only two field goals in six quarters.

In other news, Wade poo-pooed any negative effects of Romo jetting off with Jessica, saying he treats his players like grown men. What a concept.

“As long as they got off their feet and got away from football I’m fine with it,” he said. “People like to read that stuff, but it doesn’t affect our football team one way or another.” Here’s what I hate about the media (i.e. me): If Romo has a great game Sunday, we’ll laud him for being so loose. If he sucks, we’ll say he was distracted.

“If you lose, people look for something to blame, and if you win, they let it go,” Wade said. “To me it isn’t relevant either way.” Isn’t it? –Richie Whitt
