Reports out of Japan this morning had Yu Darvish visiting Arlington today — why, they do not say. ESPN Dallas’s Richard Durrett reports the pitcher and his pops and their peeps are here “to take a look at the area and get a better sense of the Texas Rangers organization.” But, don’t get excited: The Rangers have till January 18 to sign the Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighter, and this is just a get-to-know-ya visit, nothing more.
Moments ago, the Rangers sent out a brief statement concerning the trip:
Yu Darvish and his representatives are visiting Texas this week. It is the first time that Mr. Darvish has visited the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, and he felt it was appropriate to make the trip at this time. No details of his visit are being released. As has previously been stated, the Rangers will have no further comment during the negotiation process.
As always I recommend the Hooters on North Collins.
