Full disclosure: I don’t follow Major League Soccer, and I’ve never been to an FC Dallas game. The one and only time I’ve been to Frisco was when my future wife dragged me to IKEA.
So, when I say that the coming season doesn’t look promising, I’m not passing judgment on the club’s middling performance last season, or on new head coach Oscar Parejas, or on the less-than-spectacular roster of off-season signings. Nor am I simply repeating Big D Soccer’s opinion that the team is “just adequate enough to field a competitive side that tries hard, but not much else.”
Nope. I’m just saying that, when your ticket-selling pitch includes four players and none of them play for FC Dallas, it raises questions about your competitiveness.
