Aside from the Love Field item on the Transportation and Environment Committee’s agenda today, the council committee will also discuss later this p.m. how to get the state to better tend to Dallas’ crap highway landscaping. Of course, the Texas Department of Transportation claims it’s too broke to properly maintain the rights-of-way; hence, the reason why the 4,500 acres of TxDOT grass alongside Dallas’ highways and byways gets cut two, maybe four times a year. (They don’t call it “the prairie look” for nothing.) And far as the city’s concerned, “Current maintenance level tends to give a negative perception of Dallas.” –Robert Wilonsky
