Speaking of tennis and the Davis Cup and local athletes, I almost forgot to mention Mitchell Krueger. In fact, I did forget. Until now.
Who he, you ask? With any luck, and some computer click support from you, he could be the December cover boy on Sports Illustrated for Kids.
Krueger, 14, is the nation’s No. 5-ranked tennis player in his age group and one of 10 finalists (out of 5,000) for the mag’s Sports Kid of the Year. Krueger, who attends Spring Creek Academy in Plano and trains at T Bar M Racquet Club in Dallas, is currently in Madrid playing against top youth players from Spain in advance of this weekend’s Davis Cup semifinal.
