I’m all for lending a helping hand to paralyzed Dallas Cowboys’ scouting staffer Rich Behm. Pemieres. Galas. Fundraisers. Auctions. Columns. You name it.

But I dunno, something about putting Tony Romo’s health at risk just doesn’t sit right.

Tonight at 7 at Hebron High School a team of old Cowboys will play a team of current Cowboys in a basketball game benefitting Behm. Very cool. Wait, is it?

As a kid I remember how giddy I was when the Cowboys’ band of basketballers – the Dallas Hoopsters – came through Duncanville. Watching Too Tall Jones set picks and Drew Pearson dunk was the highlight of the off-season.

But now, with a little perspective, do we really want Romo, Marion Barber and Patrick Crayton risking injury in a non-football activity?

I’m not saying the star-studded event won’t be spectacular.
