On Tuesday, the Thin Line Fest, a music, documentary film and photography festival presented by the city of Denton, announced its official 2026 music lineup. More than 50 artists will play during the free, five-day festival in Denton’s historic downtown.
Local and national bands will play shows at several Denton venues March 18 – 22. All programming is free with registration, while a minimum $10 donation is encouraged. The biggest names on the bulletin are Atlanta-based noise rock band Whores and Oak Cliff’s own Luna Luna. Other North Texas acts include Pretty Boy Aaron, rock collective Seryn and Denton thrashers Skimp. Local venues such as Dan’s Silverleaf, Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studios, and Harvest House will host the main stages.
The annual festival is entirely produced by volunteers, and any money raised goes directly back into programming.
“The Thin Line is the space between two seemingly contrary and competing ideas; it’s where you find the drama,” reads the festival website. “This is where the real work is done to explore, to understand, and to bridge. These ideas guide our programming, instruct our planning, and strengthen our relationships.”
In addition to music, the festival emphasizes filmmaking. The documentary screening portion of the festival has been claimed as the longest-running documentary-specific film festival in Texas since its inception in 2007. This year’s iteration will offer six awards: best feature, best short, emerging nonfiction filmmaker, best cinematic vision, best “sound on screen,” best student documentary and best music video.
All movies will screen at the Campus Theatre in Denton Square. A formal programming schedule has not been released, and the event is still seeking volunteers.
