It looks like Dallas musicians are making a big splash on “Best of 2008” lists all over the world wide internet

For instance, Will Johnson isn’t alone in doling out some praise for Eryka Badu’s 2008 release. Today, the Dallas native’s album New Amerykah, Pt. 1: The 4th World War comes in at No. 8 on The A.V. Club’s Best Music of 2008.

The AV Club’s Michaelangelo Matos explains the pick (read the write-up in its entirety here):

“This is one of those albums that’s more than the sum of its parts, thanks to the woman who made it in her image: Whimsical, aggressively experimental, unexpectedly vulnerable, and funky as hell, it thrives on doing whatever the hell she, and it, wants to.”
