More proof that Brave Combo‘s nothing to polk fun at (sorry):

The band has been nominated for an “Annie” award, which claims to be the highest honor in animation, for the use of its “William Tell Overture” take as the theme for the PBS animated series As The Wrench Turns.

In the “Music in an Animated Television Production or Short Form” category, the band’s competition is a pretty impressive lineup: Hans Zimmer, Henry Jackman and John Powell for Dreamworks’ Secrets of the Furious Five (a Kung Fu Panda short); Kevin Kiner for Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Rising Malevolence; Guy Moon for Nickelodeon’s Back at the Barnyard: Cowman – The Uddered Avenger; and Guy Michelmore for Discovery’s Growing Up Creepie: Rockabye Freakie.

Either way, the nomination’s good news for Carl Finch and Co., who just recently also released their newest disc, The Exotic Rocking Life. Congrats! —Pete Freedman
