Yesterday, two-time Grammy-winning Dallas hip-hop production duo Play-N-Skillz announced a deal it has signed with Universal Music Group urban imprint SRC/Universal to launch its own imprint, which will be called G4 Muzik.
After the jump, the full press release announcing the deal. But, in short, it’s a pretty sweet one for the Brothers Salinas, as they’ll have complete control over the production, promotion and marketing of their own clients–which, no surprise, includes themselves (the brothers’ next record will be release on the label).
First, though, they’ll be releasing the work of another Dallas-based artist (and G4’s first signee) named Inertia, who, apparently, has shared bills with the likes of Paul Wall, Bone Thugs & Harmony and Juvenile? Says the press release. Anyway, no surprise here: Play-N-Skillz have produced the first single off Inertia’s upcoming debut. Let’s just hope it’s better than the Twitter song on his MySpace page.
Oh, and one more thing: If you wanna congratulate the Salinases on their success, they’ll be celebrating tonight downtown at Club Joyce.
