Love music? Love art? Love love? Then you won’t want to miss the opening of the Love Songs exhibit 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday at the Art Hotel gallery in the Cedars Arts District.
More than 40 local artists will display artworks representing their favorite love songs in the exhibit, which will hang February 14 through March 28.
Owner Johanna Roffino-Hulsey said the idea for the exhibit came from a brainstorming session with her son, curator Shayne Ridenour.
“We were looking for ways to showcase local artists, because there are so many good ones,” she said. “So we were trying to create a calendar of events where people might give gifts. And, of course, Valentine’s Day is one of them.”

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If the Dallas Observer matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
The opening reception will feature a few sets of spoken-word performance as well as live music. Roffino-Hulsey and Ridenour have not finalized the music lineup yet, so musicians interested in performing should contact them at this e-mail address. (The space is fairly small, though, so bands will probably have to do without the drum kits and xylophones.)
There will also be food and refreshments available, she promises: “I’m Italian, so there’s not going to be an event here without food.”
