Inclement Weather Has Canceled Shows This Weekend. Here’s What’s Already Rescheduled.

Fingers crossed a rescheduled concert is the worst thing to happen to us this weekend.
It might not snow this week like it did in February 2021 (pictured), but ERCOT says it is ready for below-freezing temperatures.

The annual Ice Age reenactment in Dallas has come. As we all know by now, snowstorms in Texas are unpredictable, which means just about everything is up in the air as a result. Gov. Greg Abbott’s declaration of a state of emergency and Sen. Ted Cruz’s hightailing it out of the state might have been enough to keep you home this weekend.

There’s no telling exactly when everything will thaw out, but as a precautionary measure, and with the memories of 2021’s fatal Storm Uri still fresh on the brain, on Friday, many venues quickly began canceling weekend activities.

It’s a bummer, but camping out at home in the worst-case scenario, even without power or running water (God forbid), beats joining a hundred-car pile-up on Interstate 35.

Just about everything has been canceled, but most of the local events from this past weekend have already been rescheduled. If you had something planned, it’s a good idea to check the organizer’s social media pages. Here’s the abridged list of events that were canceled but have already been officially rebooked.

Double D’s Anniversary Party

This design district bar, one of the best clubs in Dallas, was planning a blow-out party to celebrate its 4-year anniversary. The weather had other plans, so no tracks will spin this weekend, but the beat will go on Feb. 7, and you’re sure to find us freezing our asses off in the line sure to wrap around the building, just not this Saturday.

The Rumble Review at the Cicada

The Cicada almost went out of business last year, and we’re sure glad it didn’t, because then we wouldn’t have the Rumble Review, a burlesque show with a live band. The show has been rescheduled a few months out to March 20. But that just gives us something to look forward to.

Late Night at the Museum at the Dallas Museum of Art

This Friday’s iteration of Late Night at the Museum, part of a music-forward after-hours series the Dallas Museum of Art produces, has been canceled and rescheduled for Feb. 6. This one hits especially hard, as two of your Observer arts staffers already had tickets and were eagerly planning outfits. But this just gives everyone more time to buy tickets for the event. The more the merrier. See you there.

In the off chance this was on your radar, the event has been rescheduled. The somewhat underground, but ticketed, show, hosted near a cemetery somewhere in Oak Cliff, with the official location announced later, is moving to Feb. 1. The new date might even be more fitting, because it’ll be a full moon. Perhaps this was a sign from the stars.

KNON Presents: Punk 26 at Double Wide

This benefit show, featuring three ’80s cover bands and funding public radio, was scheduled for Saturday night, but with the anticipated freezing rain, it was rescheduled to Feb. 7. Everyone’s favorite gloriously trashy bar plans to remain open on Saturday during the day, but will probably close up shop in the evening. Per usual, stay glued to their social media accounts for the most relevant info.

Joshua Ray Walker at Dan’s Silverleaf

It’s becoming more and more rare for us to catch this Dallas country favorite as he ascends to new heights across the country, so you’d be rightfully upset at the idea of his show being canceled. Fortunately, his next local stop in Denton has only been pushed back about a month. His “acoustic night of stories and songs” was originally scheduled for Monday, Jan. 26, but now you can see him late next month on Monday, Feb. 23.
