I’d heard a couple rumblings about some of the following items earlier in the week but, now, straight from Idol Records‘ Erv Karwelis’ mouth, we can confirm them all…

  • Idol has signed area post-punkers Here Holy Spain–a band a whole lot more aggressive than most of Idol’s mainstream-leaning acts.
  • Along those same going outside of its normal realm of comfort lines: Idol Records is announcing the addition of a new sub-label to its family: It boasts no new signees–yet–but its called Exploding Plastic Records and, according to Karwelis, it will focus specifically on art pop acts. Heading the new venture is long-time Idol family signee, Dylan Silvers of The Crash That Took Me and, formerly, of [DARYL]
  • And, speaking of TCTTM, the band will perform on Friday, December 19, at Sons of Hermann Hall with Centro-matic, Radiant, Little Black Dress and DJ Cee Pee for a Toys for Tots concert. Want in? Bring $10 for a ticket, or just bring $5 and an unwrapped toy. Y’know, for a tot.

And, yeah, that pretty much covers it. —Pete Freedman
