Ten days left.

The people behind Red Blood Club have made it official: The Deep Ellum venue will close its doors for good on June 15.

In a blog post put up today on the club’s Myspace page, co-owners Brad Garrett and April Collmar explain that they just couldn’t afford to keep the joint open any longer. They blame the city’s demand that the club pay for two certified peace officers after 10 p.m. at every live music event, which costs a total of $100 per hour. This restriction on the club’s Specific Use Permit was a reaction to a stabbing that happened at the club in November of last year.

In the meantime, the club has shows scheduled for nearly every day up until the club’s doomsday. Garrett and Collmar are promising a grand finale, with details to come. After that, they ask patrons to continue showing support for the scene by attending shows at Reno’s Chop Shop, The Double-Wide, The Granada and Bar of Soap. —Jesse Hughey
