Felix “Tex” Ventouras
If you’re really dedicated to supporting local music, you have yet another reason to be a fan of synchronized swimming. Felix “Tex” Ventouras, a Dallas native and 2002 graduate of Booker T. Washington (Arts Magnet) High School, composed music for the Team USA synchronized swimmers.
According to the press release Ventouras sent us, “He studied at Dallas Music with the late Mrs. Louis Bianchi, Becky Corley, and Loel Camp Bomgardner, and received private instruction from Dr. Samuel S. Holland of S.M.U. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts.”
Ventouras’ compositions will be heard during the Americans’ technical routine August 22 (Day 14), live online at 2 a.m. local time, and on August 23 (Day 15), to be rebroadcast at 11:30 p.m on NBC, according to NBC’s Olympics online listings. Satellite customers may have different options, so go here to make sure you don’t miss a single stroke. —Jesse Hughey
