Adults have so few chances to do blatantly stupid things – run with scissors, play with fire, etc. So when a bar gives us the chance to tempt fate with an aggressively flaming garnish, we take it. The Standard Pour’s monthly feature for March, the Fire Dancer, is a drink with a bit of a show for just $10.
The cocktail is only slightly tiki-esque and not too sweet (with the ingredients listed, it could easily skew sweet), thanks to the chai port float and the use of Tullamore D.E.W. Using a less sweet (and quite smooth) Irish whiskey gives the cocktail its needed edge, and the float brings the drink to a nice balance – if you drink it without a straw. (Just make sure to blow out the flame before you drink; the no-eyebrow look doesn’t suit anyone.)
Fire Dancer ($10): Tullamore D.E.W. infused with strawberry and cinnamon, lemon, apple, mint, chai port, and fire (available through March 31)
