To prepare for this fall’s Best of Dallas® 2012 issue, we’re counting down (in no particular order) our 100 Favorite Dishes. If there’s a dish you think we need to try, leave it in the comments, or email me.

I wonder if I’d known what was about to happen if I would still have eaten that Trinidad scorpion chili. I’m talking about a long-term impact on my perception of spiciness, not the endorphin waves, sweating and labored breathing that subsided after 10 minutes or so. I feel like I’ve been permanently recalibrated in a blue pill, red pill moment I can’t undo. I’ve become a hot head. Which is why we’re looking at Goodfriend’s pepper bomb for our hundred favorite dishes.

The mix of serranos, habaneros and Thai bird chilies packs wicked heat, but it’s nothing once you’ve tangoed with the Trinidad. And if flaming lips are not your thing, that’s OK. You don’t have to jump down the rabbit hole. There are other burgers on the menu that make use of the same great beef. There’s a great beer list, too.
