While some of us still have the tote bags from 2012’s Dallas International Film Fest taking up space in our cars, it’s officially time to start thinking about next year’s fest.
They’ve opened the door for submissions to April’s 7th Annual Dallas International Film Festival, and you can now submit your work for early registration. (Think of it like college admissions: send it in early or get waitlisted.)
The cash prizes are still big, with $10,000 going to winners of both the Narrative Feature and Documentary Feature Competitions. Thanks to the Embry Foundation, we again get the Silver Heart Award, which is a unique prize category that pays out a cool ten grand to whichever filmmaking superhero best uses their work to “fight injustices and create social change for the improvement of humanity.” Homegrown flicks get their own, special reward, thanks to PANAVISION. The Texas Competition winner steals a cush $30,000 camera rental package to help them create their next film.
Put that sucker in the mail, or wrap up your finishing touches. Deadline for early submission is Friday, October 26. The regular deadline is December 7. And the “I Stayed Up All Night, Cramming For Finals” late deadline is December 14.
