Safe to say AMC knows a little something about pulling off a period drama. So we have high hopes for a pilot recently ordered by the ambitious cable network — especially since it’s set in Dallas, and double-especially since it was written by a native son.
The show is called Halt & Catch Fire, and will be produced by the folks behind Breaking Bad. According to a press release, Halt & Catch Fire is set in Texas’ Silicon Prairie during the PC boom of the 1980s.
Here’s the full set-up, per that press release:
Set in the early 1980s, Halt & Catch Fire dramatizes the personal computing boom through the eyes of a visionary, an engineer and a prodigy whose innovations directly confront the corporate behemoths of the time. Their personal and professional partnership will be challenged by greed and ego while charting the changing culture in Texas’ Silicon Prairie.
