Hutchins BBQ

Set your alarm clocks for the wee hours of Oct. 16, when Hutchins Barbeque will celebrate National Texas Twinkie Day, per a press release. And we don’t care if there’s an oxymoron in there or if it’s made up – we have enough things to worry about, and made-up food holidays are not one of them. We’re here for this.
Actually, somebody took Texas Independence Day and National Barbecue Month and divided them by two, landing on National Texas Twinkie Day halfway through the month. Genius.
Hutchins has two locations in North Texas: 9225 Preston Road, Frisco, and 1301 N. Tennessee St., McKinney. The restaurant has landed on Texas Monthly’s lauded list of Top 50 Texas BBQ Joints. The briskets here are USDA prime, wet-aged for 45 days, seasoned and smoked low and slow for 18 hours.
This year, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., both locations will serve Texas Twinkies for just $3, with a limit of four per customer. These spicy torpedos of love are jalapeños stuffed with chopped brisket and cream cheese, wrapped in bacon, tossed in sauce and grilled.

Last year at this event, Hutchins sold more than 4,500 Texas Twinkies between both restaurants.
The Texas Twinkie fire sale is part of a bigger fundraiser for Frisco Family Services and Samaritan Inn that will also include a raffle and giveaways. The first 50 people to purchase raffle tickets will get an exclusive National Twinkie Day shirt. How ’bout that!?
