The Strange Boys
got a little bit of love from Rolling Stone this week, though the small blurb mentions only Austin, neglecting to point out the band’s Dallas origins.

Writes Austin Scaggs in Smoking Section: “They are four kids from Texas who will blow you away with their Sixties garage-rock-revival debut due in early ’09.”

“Debut”? Not exactly.

The band was also named “Our New Favorite Band” by the magazine’s blog back in December after a recommendation from Black Keys drummer Patrick Carney. At least whoever wrote the blog item was aware of the band’s 2005 EP States Newest Noise Makers, though there’s still no mention of where the band got its start. —Jesse Hughey
