Here’s hoping Dustin Cavazos doesn’t die before his funeral today. The Oak Cliff-dwelling, bike-riding rapper — who has one of the most sobering deliveries in local hip-hop — is filming a new video for his song “Bless the City” this afternoon at Calvario Funeral Home at 1 p.m.

He’s putting a call out to anyone who wants to be in the video, and asks that you get there a little early and dress like you’re going to an actual funeral. The premise of the video? Well, Cavazos dies or something. You just gotta show up and see what happens.

It’s no surprise he’s invited anyone and everyone to join in. He’s very much a man of the people. For years, Cavazos has hand delivered merchandise to the front doors of fans as far as San Antonio. He better get some new tires because, come April, he’s anticipating the release of his third album, In and Out of Sleep.

No worries if you miss the funeral: Cavazos is opening for Big K.R.I.T. at Trees this Saturday.
