In a lengthy Q&A posted today at Chronicmagazine.com, Play, one half of Dallas-based production duo Play-N-Skillz, has announced the next hip-hop/R&B superstar to take up the team’s services: Everyone;s favorite Senegalese-American fan-tosser, Akon:
“I am going to break some news for you. I think we’re going to go over and do a collaboration with Akon and Konvict Muzik. We’re going to do a big partnership, where all this music that we have coming out will probably be with Akon and all his business ventures he has going on worldwide. He’s big on everything we got going on and wants to team up and make it a family thing. We’ve been friends with Akon for a long time, now it’s time to get money together. It’s not on the dotted line, but we are working the kinks out.”
Early last month, the Play-N-Skillz-produced track “Got Money (feat. T-Pain)” off Lil Wayne’s Tha Carter III, was nominated for a Grammy in the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration category.
Meanwhile, Play remains mum on speculation that his brother is dating Rev. Run daughter/star of MTV’s Daddy’s Girls Angela Simmons. “I can’t speak for my brother on that because we don’t really talk about his love life,” Play tells the mag.
