The Red Blood Club has suffered quite a bit in a short amount of time lately. With the SUP stress and last weekend’s stabbing, it is under a major black cloud. It doesn’t help that its liquor license has been suspended while the incident is under investigation. Manager Justin Powers told me the following:
We had a long meeting last night with the TABC and the local guys have decided that we did nothing wrong the other night; that it was just an incident. So they are talking to TABC in Austin today to get our license back early. At first it was suspended until Sunday, but they are helping us get it back early since we have a big show on Friday that we need really bad.
In the meantime, the club had to move tonight’s show with The Duane Peters Gunfight, The Wayward Boys, The Bleach Boys and the Rageous Brothers over to the Darkside Lounge, but are hoping to return home Friday with The Dwarves. Doors open tonight at 8 p.m. with a $10 cover.
Wait! Powers just e-mailed saying, “We will for sure have our license back.” So it appears there is some glimmer on the horizon. — Rich Lopez
