Last week, University of North Texas grad Johnny Quinn was an unknown, just another one of the 1,200 or so Americans competing in the Winter Olympics America has never heard of.
Then, the McKinney-raised bobsledder escaped a Sochi bathroom by busting Kool-Aid Man-style through the door.
Quinn has since gained the admiration of William Shatner, had his bicep fondled by Kristi Yamaguchi, been retweeted 27,000 times, and given door-smashing instructions to CNN, NBC, Fox Sports, Good Morning America, the Today Show, Access Hollywood, and too many smaller media outlets to count.
Whatever happens when the four-man bobsled competition wraps up on February 24 — whether it be gold, silver, bronze, or nothing — will be an anticlimax as far as America is concerned.
