Your Texas Rangers are a long way off from clinching the American League West — magic number’s still a whopping 25 after the Mariners’ 5-3 win over the Angels last night. That said, John Blake sends word this afternoon: If you’re interested in scoring ducats for “potential Rangers 2011 Postseason games” that would be played at the Ballpark in Arlington, well, line up beginning … now.

Here’s how it works: Register here. That site opened for business at noon today and will stick around till 5 p.m. September 9. Then, writes Blake:

Following registration, a pool of randomly selected registrants will be chosen and provided access to an online pre-sale opportunity, based on available inventory. Those selected will be notified by email no later than 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 13. The Online Ticket Opportunity for those selected will take place on Wednesday, September 14.

There is no charge to register for this opportunity, which will be the best option for fans to purchase individual tickets to possible 2011 American League Division Series games at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.

Some tickets will go on sale September 17. But why not sign up now? Don’t cost you nothing.

And whilst we’re on the subject, there’s this note: T. Boone Pickens is throwing out the ceremonial first pitch tonight before Rangers-Rays. Something to do with Ronald Reagan’s 100th birthday. Give ’em the natural gas, T. Boone.
