Imagine walking into a restaurant to the sounds of Def Leppard’s “Pour Some Sugar on Me.” Now imagine walking into a restaurant to the sounds of Lady Gaga’s latest hit.
Were they the same places? Of course not.
Which is why it may behoove Townhouse Kitchen + Bar at the Galleria to reconsider its playlist. Especially since neither of those songs matched the new restaurant’s clientele of upscale shoppers and a few husbands who threw in the towel flipping through their iPads.
On a positive note, the bartender was one of the genuinely nicest women I’ve encountered at a restaurant in a long time.

Townhouse is very trendy and modern. Half restaurant and half bar, it boasts a nice selection of draft beers and stand out appetizers, including duck quesadillas served with blueberry-lime salsa and short rib sliders with horseradish pickles. Entrees feature dishes like pecan pork shops with a bourbon glaze, shrimp and grits, an Asian turkey burger with pho spices and sriracha aioli sauce, and kimchi duck tacos. Yup, kimchi duck tacos.
Townhouse is managed by the Restaurants-America, who also owns PrimeBar in Uptown.
