Five months before their first dribble up in Frisco, the Texas Legends have already sold 13,000 tickets. Not bad for an NBA Development League franchise that doesn’t yet have any players and just a month ago unveiled a logo.
“We have had an absolute blast and the response from our fans has been legendary,” co-owner and Dallas Mavericks general manager Donnie Nelson said.
Some sections of the team’s Dr Pepper Arena home in Frisco are already sold out for the 2010-11 season. The fan purchasing the team’s 15,000th ticket will receive autographed items from Nelson, head coach Nancy Lieberman and president of basketball operations Spud Webb.
If the Legends could give the Mavericks a shooting guard who can create his own shot off the dribble, this hype will be justified.
