Haven’t thought about Dan Hampton in a while. Some of you may not have ever heard of him.

Hampton, a defensive tackle, played at Arkansas and then was a member of the famed 1985 Chicago Bears and is a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He’s always had a big mouth, we just haven’t heard it in a while.

On Pro Football Weekly’s TV show, Hampton spiced up his NFC East preview by comparing the Dallas Cowboys to a bunch of gay dudes.

“The Cowboys think they are Clint Eastwood; they’re more of the Brokeback variety if you know what I’m talking about.”

But wait, there’s more …

Hampton added that “the Cowboys are the one team I would like to buy for their worth and sell for what they think they’re worth. Look out. The Giants are going to be back.”

Look, I’m all for having an opinion and coloring outside the lines every once in a while is a welcomed way to keep us awake. But Hampton’s take is just irrational, and it smacks of jealousy.

And then there’s this from Hampton about Thursday’s Vikings-Saints NFL season opener:
