There’s a little known yet painfully true secret amongst locals about central Arlington: “Division Street, it’s not just for bums and hookers anymore.”
A perfect new example of this just off Division on Mesquite Street is The Grease Monkey Burger Shop, which is about a mile and half from Cowboys Stadium. Recently opened by a group of Arlington kids, they offer up good bar grub, such as juicy burgers and nachos, as wells as cold drinks. I tried their Angry Burger that came with roasted green chili peppers, fried jalapeños and pepper jack cheese. It was a hot phenomenal mess.
There’s a bar just off the main dining room, and in addition to an outside deck, they also have a cool sidewalk bar (in the photo above). Inside is a bit chaotic, but with a 12′ x 10′ screen center stage and 13 other flat screens surrounding the room, it’s a great place to watch a game — or 10.
Ideally they would offer shuttle service to games at the ballpark and Cowboys Stadium, right? Well, just spoke with Paul at the Grease Monkey and he tells me they will, in fact, have a bus for the Cowboy game tonight, and they’re working on getting shuttles to Rangers’ playoff games.

They have live music every weekend and a late-night menu consisting of just grilled cheese and pimento cheese sandwiches. The scene varies by day and time; a steady lunch crowd during the week and a more laid back sports crowd on the weekends. And, as far as I could tell, no bums or hookers.
